Heavy Metal Testing & Prop 65

This warning is on our label due to CA Prop 65. Prop 65 was put in place to protect consumers from potentially hazardous exposure to certain chemicals. We are required by law to put this warning on specific products of ours. All our products are safe (and healthy) to consume! We believe in the safety levels set by the EPA, FDA, EU, and WHO for lead, cadmium, mercury, and arsenic (the four most common heavy metals found in superfoods). In fact, our products fall well below these nationally and internationally-recognized safety levels. But Prop 65 standards are set at levels that are often difficult to reach with plant-based foods that naturally (and harmlessly) absorb these heavy metals from the soil. For instance, elements such as lead, cadmium, nickel and arsenic are naturally present in the fertile soil where they are metabolized by plants and play a critical part in a balanced and nutrient-dense diet. Imlak’esh Organics has an extensive and thorough quality management protocol to keep up the integrity of our products. We invest in a third party, independent lab testing to ensure the safety and quality of our superfoods! To reiterate, the label does not mean that the food contains heavy metals, leads, or other toxins, simply that it could be at risk. We have the label on our products because it is a formality required by law.
